Broke Down

So here I am at home, stranded. I have two cars outside... neither working. I'm hoping to fix one before this weekend.

My firebird allowed me to make it into town to the Best Buy parking lot with no signs of issues. Next thing I know, my car will not start. Turns out my starter went out. So, my dad tied it up to the back of his truck and we pulled it (no power steering or power brakes) right through the middle of Greenville at "get off work" time. That sucked!

So, I got my brothers Dodge Stealth to drive around in the mean time. So, I'm going to the bank to deposit some checks. And what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a high-idoling car that sounds floored when in gear. That's right. When just sitting still, the car's idol is running about 3500RPMs. Sounds like your driving 60mph when just sitting there. The engine races away. Not good for the engine. So, I managed to get it home.

So, now I'm stuck with two cars that are not fit to drive. Tomorrow (or today) I'm planning on strapping the firebird back up to my dad's truck and dragging it to Bethel (about 25-30 minutes away) to work on it.

Turns out it's about a $75 part (not including labor if I have it fixed by someone else) for each broken down vehicle.

We'll see if this fixes the problem or better yet, what new problem we cause by trying to fix the current one.
